I've been on the wrong end of bad training.
I'm Tyler. Before I taught safety, I spent years as a Red Seal electrician on commercial and industrial sites across Alberta — and I came close to being killed by electrocution more than once, every time because somebody else on that site hadn't been trained properly or hadn't followed code.

First aid has to be taught hands-on.
Everything else on this page you can finish online. First aid you cannot — you have to put your hands on a manikin and an AED. So these courses are taught in person, either in our classroom or at your workplace.
Our first aid and CPR courses are run through Life Start Training First Aid & Safety — Cochrane, the classroom we operate here in town. Booking, certificates and records are handled in the Life Start system, so the register button takes you there.
We're the training agency — not a contractor for one.
Life Start Training Inc. appears on the Government of Alberta's official list of approved first aid training agencies. Plenty of local first aid businesses deliver someone else's programme under licence from a national brand. We're the agency itself: our approval, our instructors, our certificate.
In our classroom

Hybrid — online then in class
Do the theory at home, come in for the hands-on. Basic is 3 hours online plus 3 in class ($105). Intermediate is 4 online plus 7 in class ($140). Same certificate, same price, less time off the tools.
On site at your workplace
We bring the manikins and AED trainers to you and teach your crew in your own space, on a date that suits your schedule. Good for shift work and full crews.
The three certification levels run together in one stacked session, so your crew books in together and each person leaves with the level they actually need — the CPR/AED group finishes first, Emergency at the end of day one, Standard after day two.
In-class courses — Cochrane

Classes run on set dates and cap at 18 seats — once a date is full the next one is a wait, so check dates before you commit your crew's week.
Certificates are valid three years. If yours expires this year, recertification runs $87–$100. Short on time? Hybrid courses do the theory online and the skills in class, same price as in person. Ages 10–13 can take the Safe Tween & Babysitting program for $45.

Will my employer and Alberta OHS accept this?
Our online certification courses are built to Canadian and Alberta standards and are accepted on Alberta worksites. If your site has a specific provider requirement, send us the requirement before you buy and we'll tell you straight whether our course meets it.
Can I buy seats for my whole crew?
Yes, and you should — bulk seats come with volume pricing, you can assign them to workers as you hire, and we invoice rather than making you put a crew's worth of training on a personal credit card. Use the quote form and tell us roughly how many seats and which courses.
What if I need training delivered on site?
First aid and fall protection can be taught at your location for groups. Contact us with your crew size, your location and the dates that work, and we'll come to you.
Do you train in languages other than English?
A number of our courses are available in additional languages, including French. Tell us which course and which language and we'll confirm availability before you buy.
